In my childhood days, I was with my family. Our family consisted of my grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters. But nowadays its rare for a family to have a meal together with your own family members. They hardly see each other. Few cousins, aunts and uncles meet us only in functions.And sometimes i dont even know how they are related to me. The reason usually said for this newly formed culture is work nature and changing life style. In my early days we used to have moonlight dinner once in a week or fortnight. But now we dont find time to have dinner together once in a month!!.
And nowadays there is a vast increase in old age homes. Youngsters never want to care their parents. what do they expect from you ? just a bit of care and love. No one is ready to think of the sacrifices they made for us and the price they paid to bring up as a successful citizen in this self centric society. When a guy earns five digit salary he is not ready to think of his childhood days and the way his dad worked hard to make him study in a good boarding school and the humiliation he went through while getting his god damn college seat. All of a sudden he finds his parents odd beings in his home and he just states that they are not civilized enough to be a part of a rich family . He now forgets the pain his mother went through just to give birth to him, the way she used to run behind him to feed him and the nights she sacrificed for his successful results in his exams and the pain he inflicts on them when he says " its my life mom, will u please stay out of it ??" no one is ready to think.
People say that western culture is inflicting its effect on modern youngsters of India. Do u know what western culture is ? Eating pizza and drinking coke is not western culture. In those countries children earn their scholarships to their colleges. If they dont earn they do arts and science or any other course which he got for his marks. They dont pay millions for our medicine and engineering seats. Those kids do part time jobs. Does this so called modern youngster does this? What he does is , he is stealing the luxary part of both Indian and western culture. When he was a boy, he needs his parents to take care of him according to Indian culture and when he starts earning and when his parents get old, he wants them to take care of themselves according to Western culture.
On the other hand suicidal rate of young kids is increasing in a rapid pace. Those small kids are not able to handle the pressure given to them. A modern mother wants her child to be the topper of the class, topper in sports, she needs her kids to be the best in her locality in all aspects of curricular and co-curricular activities. Now is she being the best mother in her locality? Frankly the answer is NO. She dosent have the time to sing a lullaby for her child , she dosent have time to see and enjoy the growth and naughty nature of her kid. She dosent have time to teach rhymes to her kid . They hardly see one another .She comes back home only after her kid sleeps and rushes to office before the kid wakes up. Reason ? Survival . In Metro cities it is a must for both the parents to earn a lot to run their home successfully. They meet their kids every sunday in a boarding school. How sweet ? Is he ur kid or The Hindu Open Page ?? To meet only on sundays? Today your kids dosent need the most expensive watch or the best play station. All he is longing is for mother's love and father's affection. If you are ready to give them this you can definitely expect him to the happiest and richest kid in ur locality.Then he automatically will become a champion.
So the conclusion for this problem is today's youngsters must realize that money dosent makes their life funfilled only with the moments . So dont put ur parents in old age home and children in a boarding school and make them suffer. Instead make a family, let them enjoy their last breath and let their knowledge and wisdom guide you. Happiness is not what you get, happiness in what you make.
