Lets Put Our Hands Together For.....

Hi Fellas!
It’s been long time , it’s for a chat I think. Whenever we discussed something, it was always about making India super power or regarding the pre and post teen problems or regarding love and romance. For a change shall we celebrate something which we forget to appreciate and thank from time to time. Yeah we are going to talk about women and womanhood. We speak about ancient women and their sacrifices or women from other countries and continents if we are going to talk. But this time, let us see how much our sisters’ sacrifices for us shall we? How much they teach us ? How much they need to celebrated?

Kanaga sis, typical small town girl working in a mobile shop as a sales girl. Every day she wears the uniform and goes ahead with her work. Number of smiles from strangers, number of proposals, number of vulgar comments, number of harassment torture from her fellow workers, scolding from the man who gave her a hand loan, etc, etc. Let me tell you what I would have done if I was in her situation. Simply suicide! But What she does you know? She pays the college fees for her younger sister, she discusses books with me and other fellows who are as mad as her, she sings when she is alone, she would reject all the proposals, just to make sure she doesn’t set a bad example for her sister. She will be there for all her classmate’s wedding, she would be the first one to serve for the kids in orphanage every Sunday morning, she would teach math for the kids in her flat. She is simply superb!

Maha is a girl in her twenty third year of journey called life. Molested by her own father at the age of 18, admitted in physiatrist clinic for seven months is doing her MA in English in Stella Maris. Look into her eyes, no anger, no ego , no attitude, just care and joy. She is like the key to happiness. Feel low? Feel angry for no reason, when you think life is playing mean to you, just give her a call. She would make you feel that you are the best person in the world. When she banged first place in her drama (All India Literary Feast -2013), she came up on to the stage and said “You all are going to be parents some day. It would be great watching you kid grow into a better person that we can all dream about, but just make sure when they achieve something in life, no matter how little it may seem, be there for them when they achieve, hold them close and tell them that you are so proud of them, that they captured your attention in the best way and they are the best you could ever ask for. Thank you Aravind (she said few more things about me which is not necessary here). You bet, she is an angel and a best daughter a parent would ever get.

Sanchana, a nineteen year old girl diagnosed HIV positive, who scored 98.2% in her higher secondary exams and a first HIV student studying medicine. She is the chief guest on the day of releasing my new novel “The Essence of Life”. She is a girl put into orphanage when she was in her class nine. She studied form the home and was not granted admission in any school. She cried, she even tried to end her life until sister Jessica came into her life. She took care of her and made her realize that she is the angel sent from heaven to save people. Now she doesn’t know how long she is going to live, but she is damn sure that she is going to study cardiology and save people from diseases. She was so shy even to sit near me when I first met her, now that she knows me very well, scolds me every single day to eat less or else I would be her first patient when she completes her study.

Not only these three girls, but many others who was treated so badly by destiny, life or anything, they stood up, they struggled hard. They don’t have to prove anything but they did. Talk about keeping up the spirit, talk about playing fair when no one is watching, talk about living life!

It is just not few girls mascara, lipstick, ironed hair, kaajal and implant boobs, but it is their discipline, spirit and confidence in their eyes, the way they carry themselves forward and live life with no regrets, they are my role models, I feel so privileged to be a fellow in their lives, to act in their play, to discuss education with them, I have changed their names J .

Life is beautiful !
