Book Review - "Wonder" By R.J Palacio

Once in a while we get across a book , that stays in our heart for a very long time. You would definitely be a changed person after reading that book. The change may be the way you look at your life, the way you look at your relationship, your purpose of living, it could be anything. (A few books makes us feel that reading is hideous. Nope, not this book). If you are sad, read "Wonder" you will feel better. If you are happy, read "Wonder" you will feel grateful. If you are grateful, read "Wonder" you will feel loved. Basically read this book named "Wonder" written by R.J Palacio.

August Pullman is a ten year old guy who starts his middle school this year. He has a wonderful Sister named Via(Olivia, if you must), his Mom and Dad and his pet Daisy. A tiny bit of information, August has a minor situation , kind of  a facial deformity after some 27 surgeries on his face due to a genetic problem that would occur one in a four million times. This book begins as Auggie goes to the school and explains how he would tackle the real world. The book is of his entire school year.

The Major characters other than Auggie's family are his school friends Summer, Jack Will, Charlotte. Julian, who is a bully in Auggie's class. We have Justin (Via's Boyfriend) and Miranda (Via's kind of drifted apart friend) , Auggies, teachers, principal etc, etc. So Auggie is sometimes let down by his friends and society, what makes him a wonder is his courage , self belief, determination that proves that life is mean but we can take it on and beat it down.

What is there in this book that makes it a wonder ? Characters, so honest in narration sometimes it becomes cliche. Most importantly the subtle message throughout the book is that love makes life beautiful.I don't want to spoil it for you guys, just read it. It will go down as one of the best books you have ever read.

My Favorite Quotes :
1. “I think there should be a rule that everyone in the world should get a standing ovation at least once in their lives.”
2. “Kinder than is necessary. Because it's not enough to be kind. One should be kinder than needed.
3. “Now that I look back, I don't know why I was so stressed about it all this time. Funny how sometimes you worry a lot about something and it turns out to be nothing.
4. “It’s not enough to be friendly. You have to be a friend.”

Rating: 4.5/5.

With Love,
